Sport for All Events
European Transplant Sport Championships are held in Vantaa on 10.-17. of July. Along with the games we celebrate European Transplant Sport Week (ETSW16), which is a series of events co-funded by European Union’s Erasmus + Sport-program. Among the main activities of ETSW16 are Sport for All events, which will take our important message to the local people of Vantaa and Helsinki Metropolitan area.
Raising awareness of organ donation among the wider public
One of the most important missions for European Transplant Sport Week is to spread information about organ transplantation and about the importance of telling about your willingness to donate. At this very moment there are over 400 people waiting for a transplantation, and every year 5-10 percent of those waiting for a donation will die because suitable organs were not available in time.
You can express your willingness to donate clearly with a donor card. You can pick it up at any of the Sport for All- events which are part of European Transplant Sport Week and are help around the Helsinki metropolitan area 11.-16.7.
In addition to hearing about organ donation the Sport for All -events offers an opportunity to try out different sports with sports teams and clubs and to get a body composition measurement for free.
Six Sport for All -events are held during the week: Tikkurila market place in Vantaa (11.7.), Kansalaistori in Helsinki (12.7.), Käpylä Sport Park in Helsinki (13.7.), Shopping Centre Jumbo in Vantaa (14.7.), Shopping Centre Sello in Espoo (15.7.) ja Shopping Centre Myyrmanni in Vantaa (15.7.).
